Let Your Purpose Drive You to Your Destiny
“You may not always understand the path you’re on, but God has already designed it with purpose-trust Him to lead you to your destiny.”
Do you believe you have a purpose?
Do you believe you have a destiny?
“God has given every one of us a purpose in life, and sometimes we discover it through experiences we didn’t expect to matter. It is intentional, unique, and designed specifically for who we are becoming. Our purpose unfolds over time as we grow, trust Him, and take steps of faith. As we seek Him and remain open to His direction, He reveals it to us step by step. Nothing we go through is wasted-every step plays a part in leading us toward our destiny. Even when we don’t fully understand it, we can trust that God is working as we continue moving forward.”
We are not here by accident. Ephesians 2:10 says that we are God’s handiwork created in Christ Jesus to do good works, which He prepared in advance for us to do. This means that before we were even born, God already had us in mind. He knew who we were, and He knew who we would become.
According to Jeremiah 29:11, God has specific plans for each of us-plans for a future filled with hope, not harm.
Sometimes, though, we may feel unsure. We may feel confused about which direction to go. It can seem like everyone else has it all figured out while we’re still searching. But even in those moments, know this: God still has a purpose and a plan for your life.
Your purpose will drive you to your destiny.
Romans 8:28 reminds us that God is working everything together for our good. Every step, every season, every experience has meaning.
There are times when people pursue certain careers or paths, only to realize later that it wasn’t what they truly desired. Then, along the way, they discover their true calling-their “niche”-and it leads them closer to their destiny.
Psalm 138:8 says, “The Lord will fulfill His purpose for me.” That is a promise you can hold on to.
So don’t be discouraged if you don’t yet know your direction.
I remember when I was younger, I didn’t know what I wanted to do with my life. I worked in different places, trying to figure it out. One thing I always knew was that I love caring for people. That led me to became a certified nursing assistant, and I did that for a while.
But something still felt like it was missing.
At the time, I didn’t realize that I had a passion for working with children. It wasn’t until my early twenties that I decided to try working in a school-something I had never done before. And when I did, I fell in love with it.
I spent many years working in special education, and I enjoyed every moment. I also served in my church through Vacation Bible School. Looking back, I can see that working with children was always in my heart-I just didn’t recognize it right away.
Can you be walking in something connected to your destiny without realizing it? Yes, I believe you can. For over 20 plus years, I worked both in the church as a youth pastor and in the school system. That journey brought fulfillment and confirmed part of my purpose.
“Would I go back to working with children? Absolutely. I believe it is still part of my destiny-perhaps in a different way, such as counseling. No matter our age, God’s purpose for our lives never expires.”
You may be called to be a doctor, a teacher, a nurse, a lawyer-or something completely different. Whatever it is, your destiny is real. And it may not come overnight.
It didn’t happen quickly for me. It took years. I had to go through a process.
There are stepping stones we must walk on to reach our destiny. Along the way, God develops us-teaching us compassion, patience, and love. For example, when working with children, you must have a heart for it. God used those experiences to shape me and prepare me.
And the journey doesn’t end. It continues. Your purpose can grow and expand into different areas of your life over time.
So don’t give up.
Let your purpose drive you to your destiny.
Prayer
Father God, in the name of Jesus, I come to you today, even If I am unsure of my destiny. I ask that You guide me, direct me, and reveal my purpose-the purpose that will lead me to my destiny.
Help me to trust Your plan and timing. Thank you for ordering my steps and working all things together for my good.
I am grateful, Lord. In Jesus’ name, Amen.
