Be Still and Know, I am God!
One of the most difficult things I believe for anyone is to be still. As humans we often feel compelled to try to fix everything ourselves- to solve our own problems or even try to fix someone else’s. The more we get involved it is the more complicated things seem to become. And when that happens, it’s easy to feel discouraged, because, what we set out to solve sometimes ends up worse than before. The Bible gives us clear instructions on what to do. But first and most importantly seek (aim at, strive after) His kingdom and His righteousness (His way of doing and being right-the attitude and character of God), and all these things will be given to you also(Matthew 6:33). God’s guidance is right at our fingertips, yet sometimes seeking Him may be last on our list instead of first”. When we try and fail to fix our dilemmas ourselves, we feel defeated. We may even begin to speak negatively, forgetting that God is right there, ready to help.
When we face difficult situations that seem unsolvable, it can be emotionally draining. But for every problem God has a solution.
Psalm 46:10 reminds us: “Be still, and know that I am God.”
And 1 Peter 5:7 encourages us:
“Cast all your anxiety, all your worries, and all your concerns once and for all on Him, for He cares for you deeply and watches over you carefully.”
God is waiting for us to call on Him. He says, “I’m here to help you because I am the problem solver. I know your anxieties and want to fix your problems because I love you.”
We must learn to allow God to do what needs to be done when we ask Him. Trust Him and be confident in His timing. Even when we’re in a hurry, God is never late-He has everything under control.
So the next time you face a difficult situation, don’t rush to fix it yourself. Call on the problem solver, Jesus. Whisper a prayer, be still, and recognize that He is bigger than any problem you’ll ever face. He has all the answers you need.
Remember: When you feel anxious, sit and be still, knowing that your Heavenly Father has it all under control.
